Privacy Policy

Firstlight is built by ChaoticByte ("we", "us"), registered in the United Arab Emirates. Firstlight helps people quit pornography, which is a deeply personal goal. This policy explains what data exists, where it lives, and what we can and cannot see. The short version: there are no accounts, your recovery data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, and we cannot read it.

No accounts

Firstlight has no sign up and no sign in. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifier. There is no user database on our servers, because there are no user accounts.

Data the app stores

To work, Firstlight stores the following on your device:

• Your daily check-in history, streaks, XP, levels, and badges
• Your answers to the onboarding assessment and the plan generated from them
• Your if-then plan text and your selected apps for lockdown
• Your reminder time preference, if you set one

If you are signed into iCloud on your device, this data is also synced to your private iCloud database so it can restore on a new device. That database belongs to your Apple ID, is encrypted by Apple, and is not accessible to us. We have no technical ability to read, export, or delete it on your behalf. Your most sensitive fields, including your assessment answers and if-then plan, are additionally stored using CloudKit's encrypted field values.

App blocking

The lockdown feature uses Apple's Screen Time technology (Family Controls). Your selection of blocked apps is processed on your device by Apple's framework. Apple's design prevents us from seeing which apps you selected or how you use them.

Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage entitlements. RevenueCat receives an anonymous randomly generated identifier and your purchase receipt; it does not receive your name, email, or any recovery data. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.

Analytics

We collect anonymous usage events (for example, that a check-in happened or a paywall was viewed) to understand which features help people and to improve the app. These events are tied to a random device-level identifier, not to you, and never include the content of your plan, your assessment answers, or your history. You can disable analytics at any time in the app's settings.

What we never do

• We never sell data, to anyone, of any kind
• We never show third party ads or share data with ad networks
• We never see your relapse history, your streaks, or your assessment answers

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes its local data from your device. To also remove synced data, delete Firstlight's data from iCloud in your device Settings under your Apple ID, iCloud, Manage Storage. Because the data lives in your iCloud rather than on our servers, deletion is entirely in your control and takes effect without contacting us.

Children

Firstlight is intended for adults and is rated accordingly on the App Store. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will be noted in the app.
